We do not collect sensitive personal data (special category data under UK GDPR Article 9) and do not ask for financial information such as bank account or payment card details.
When you register for a price alert, we store your email address, postcode, and alert preferences. We use this solely to send you the alerts you have requested. We do not sell this data to suppliers or third parties.
Each alert email contains an unsubscribe link. Clicking it immediately removes your preferences and email from our alert system. We will delete your data within 30 days of unsubscribing unless you re-register.
We may use your email to send you a weekly heating oil price digest if you have selected that alert type. We will not send you marketing emails unless you have separately consented to receive them.
When you submit a commercial fuel enquiry, the information you provide is shared with fuel suppliers relevant to your postcode and fuel type. By submitting the form you consent to this sharing. We will tell you clearly which suppliers your data may be shared with before you submit.
We retain commercial enquiry data for 12 months for our records and for the purpose of improving our supplier matching. We do not sell commercial enquiry data to data brokers or marketing lists.
The tool asks for your tank capacity, tank level, daily usage and, optionally, house size. It does not ask for your postcode. Those figures are sent to our server to work out the answer and are not written to any recommendation or analytics record. They are not sent to any third party, including the artificial intelligence model described in section 10. Our web server keeps ordinary technical logs of every request (IP address, time, page requested, browser), as described in the table above, and those logs are the only trace of a request to the tool.
Before September 2026 an earlier version of the tool asked for a postcode and stored the postcode and tank figures entered, together with the answer given, in a recommendation cache and an analytics table. That version has been retired and no new records are created. The records it created are being deleted; see section 7.

Our cookie banner offers "Accept all" and "Reject all" together, so rejecting non-essential cookies is as straightforward as accepting them, in line with the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations and the Information Commissioner's Office guidance on consent. You can change your preferences at any time via the cookie settings link in the footer. We do not set non-essential cookies before you have made a choice.
Your data is stored on servers located in the United Kingdom / European Economic Area. We use industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption for all data in transit, password-protected access to data files, and access controls limiting who within our team can view personal data.
Price alert data (email, postcode, preferences) and commercial enquiry data are stored in a database on our server with access restricted to the site operator. Commercial enquiry data is transmitted to relevant suppliers via email.
We do not transfer personal data outside the UK/EEA without appropriate safeguards in place.
